Hong Kong’s style siblings Gilbert and Cindy Yeung
launch unique “brother & sister” concept store and café.

(Hong Kong, 23 March 2010) dragon-i founder Gilbert Yeung and his sister, Emperor Group Director, Cindy Yeung, have collaborated to launch a unique and spacious new concept store, brother & sister, at 1881 Heritage, the chic new restaurant and retail development in what was formerly the Marine Police Headquarters in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Conveniently located in the heart of Kowloon’s premier shopping area, Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, the hip new brother & sister concept store is opened by Gilbert and Cindy Yeung with friends and partners, Gordon Lam and Jackson Ng.

The inspiration for this one-of-a-kind concept store came about when brother & sister team, Gilbert and Cindy Yeung, decided that a combination of Emperor’s fine jewellery and watches, a trendy bar-café and a unique fashion boutique was the ideal retail formula and one that was simply unbeatable.

Designed by New York-based Mark Zeff, founder of international design consultancy Zeff Design, the brother & sister concept reflects the designer’s philosophy of combining natural fusion with environmental and interior design elements to create an experience that inspires and stimulates the senses.

The overall result is 2,800 square feet of hip, modern retail space that simply oozes a super-cool, rock ‘n roll vibe.

The brother & sister concept café is located on the basement level of the Emperor Jewellery store at 1881 Heritage. Complete with invitingly large, plush leather chairs and sofas, a menu of mouth-watering comfort food and a chic cocktail bar, it’s an ideal place for in the know travellers and locals alike to relax and recharge after their shopping.

It is also a superb place to find a unique and eclectic collection of exclusive fashion and lifestyle items, most of which cannot be found anywhere else in Hong Kong.

Some of the unique items available at the store include a wide range of rare or limited edition sneakers from brands such as Hong Kong based brand Cipher, Dolce & Gabbana, Greedy Genius and Android Homme as well as items from Puma and Reebok.

Limited edition cross over brands such as Mihara for Puma; Alexander McQueen for Puma; Jeremy Scott for Adidas; David Beckham for Adidas; and Jump by Taboo (a member of Black Eyed Peas).

There is also a superb collection of unique and rare designer sunglasses including Dita Eyewear from Los Angeles, Nathan Jenden as well as vintage pieces from Guy Laroche and Playboy.

Other items in the eclectic collection include jewellery items by Justin Davis, Deep Anger, Marielle Byworth and the infamous Rock Candy.  Chic and trendy designer watches from brands such as Lip Watch, Nixon, Tiret, Toy watch and U-Boat are guaranteed to leave you wanting more.

Besides these are Aesop skin, hair and body products, Cowshed bath and body products, Chouette fashion watches, Crystal Jam glammed up Swarovski accessories, Dosh unisex wallets, and DL & Co. candles, to name but a few.

Needless to say there is also a selection of cool dragon-i memorabilia including T shirts, staff uniforms and cd collections from what after 7 years is still Hong Kong’s hottest nightspot.

brother & sister is also the ideal, centrally located venue at which to meet friends, family or colleagues for a relaxing end-of-day beverage or any of a selection of special cocktails available at the bar which sits in front of a ultra-modern white-washed accent wall of speakers – perfect for relaxing as you enjoying the latest musical hits.

It is also a unique place to hold small exclusive parties and events, such as the private party held for cult designer Jeremy Scott recently whose limited edition range for Adidas is on display at the store.

Marijoli

Jen Brown
Who started it? Marijoli was founded in 2006 by Swiss-born jewellery designer Marielle Byworth. Having graduated with a degree in industrial design from the University of Art and Design in Lausanne, Switzerland, she moved to London with her new husband in 2005. There, she started a jewellery line on the advice of her brothers-in-law. Business took off when she moved to Tokyo and one of her bracelets, the Elema, was spotted on Japan's Miss Universe contestant. She recently moved to Hong Kong and has launched a bespoke service. Her designs have been spotted on celebrities such as Nelly Furtado, Kate Moss and Madonna.
Why we love it: Byworth's designs are heavily influenced by her Zen lifestyle and have an organic, fluid shape. Made from rhodium- or gold-plated sterling silver, they feature irregular cut-outs and are often studded with stones such as rubies or black diamonds. Her latest collection, Dragon on Fire, is a tribute to Hong Kong and features rubies and onyx.
What we'd pick: the signature Elema cuff with suede cords to tie it around the wrist (top right; HK$1,950). The Mactor earring (right; HK$990 each) can be worn on its own or layered with other styles. Another cool piece is the Dragon on Fire ring (top; HK$7,200).
Where can you get it? The collections are available at Brother & Sister, 1881 Heritage, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2369 1991. A selection is also available online at www.marijoli.com.

Chivas invitation

I just came back from a refreshing week-end in Zurich where I have been invited by Chivas for 3 days of adventure with the crew...

Then everything was a surprise!

I invited Ian, Paolo and Gilles Chevre as it was his birthday on the 11th.
As expected everybody arrived on time from Italy and Jura Swiss...Apart from me...Obviously!
Coming directly from Geneva with my brother Joel. The snow and the traffic had a major impact on the late arrival....
We planed to stay at Hotel Four Points in Sihlcity....Arrived there 30 minutes before dinner and  guest what!... the manager of the hotel said that my room is not available and their is no more space in the car park...For some reason the system shutdown...So she recommend meto change in the "SPA ASIA" which doesn't below the the Hotel at all...which is really nice but coming from Hong-Kong with all my bags open a front of 20 other guests completely necked from the Spa wasn't appropriate at all!...(she did upgrade us at the end)

In some how I found time to get my Zen Zen attitude and get myself ready in 15 min. for Horst Petermann gastrononique's diner. As soon as I enter the place I started meeting with everybody with a nice drink of Chivas...All my stress was behind me.

 Amazing molecular mixology experience!

For dinner I was seating between Marianne Eschbach who invited me later to Bolero's office and Adrian Matthias Schräder who likes Chivas just as much as I did until the last day...

I will keep the rest of the 2 days as a great memory...Thank you CHIVAS!

Melero Boutique & Gallery

Melero Boutique & Gallery united for the cover of GENTE BIEN Magazine and more...

Melero Boutique and Gallery inhabits a demure green dollhouse on India Street in downtown’s Little Italy—a small slice of haute New York or Paris in a little neighborhood not far from the oceanfront.
The dollhouse, called the A.W. Pray House, is a Victorian Gothic built in 1888. It was moved here by architect Jonathon Segal to be added as a retail space to his current residential project in Little Italy. Fancifully, he calls the building “The Q”—a reference to James Bond’s fictional gadget guru.
The idea of a clothing boutique/art gallery is Ruth Melero’s latest brainstorm. Born and raised in Texas, Melero has previously owned a chain of restaurants, an interior design company, and now this unique storefront, which offers quizzical passersby a cornucopia of art, clothing and accessories. Melero is a strong woman who talks fast and knows what she likes. Lucky for the rest of us, what she likes is always impeccable.
Melero’s goal is to be a place where San Diego women can find a little piece of New York or Paris. She has worked hard to curry favor and develop relationships with designers and artists locally and worldwide; the store carries beautiful lines, some of which are found here exclusively.
For the woman who astutely watches for the “who’s who” in fashion, designer Diego Binetti is a well-known name found here. Italian born and Buenos Aires raised, Binetti grew up watching and assisting his mother, a dressmaker. He started his career in fashion as a stylist working for Antonio Bordonardo at Bulgari in Milan. A year later, he became the head of design for Jill Stuart.
When Binetti broke out with his own line, Women’s Wear Daily proclaimed him as “The One To Watch.” Binetti’s designs are an explosion of color. His dresses are in soft cottons and sexy hemlines. Binetti is fresh, feminine, immaculately appointed and extremely wearable.

Ankasa is a line that has blown up worldwide, and now thanks to Melero, can be found in San Diego. Husband and wife team Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia started in the home arena with a cozy-chic style using lush fabrics and well-placed embroidery. Their clothes are cleverly constructed to flatter a woman’s body, adding just the right amount of flash and vibrant color with classic softness.
The real standout at Melero are the accessories. Two jewelry designers in particular--Marijoli and Gas Bijoux--are destined to take the city by storm.
Marijoli designer Marielle Byworth married into the jewelry family, but her brothers-in-law listened to her inspired design ideas, and soon she became a name all her own. Her cuff bracelets made in steel and encrusted with Rubies, and other stones fuse her Swiss sophistication with the grace and sensuality of the years she spent living in the Japan.
Andre Gas of Gas Bijoux is a graduate of the Beaux Arts School. He opened his first store in St. Tropez. His accessories reflect his love of global travel and the inspiration in his exotic finds. From Mexico’s flair to India’s intricate handwork mixed with New York’s energy, all can be seen in Gas Bijoux’s floral charm bracelets and gypsy style pendants.
For the art connoisseur Melero boast’s a collection worth envy. Whether customers are looking to decorate with a modern painting by famed artist Ricardo Rendon or jazz up a cottage with a contemporary collage or sculpture by the young and well-established Pablo Helguera, Melero’s got it covered.
For spring, Melero predicts color will rule: emerald green, gold and coral. She’ll also have swimwear by St. Tropez designer Las Noches, and an Italian line by Delfina.
“My secret is this,” confides Melero, “I don’t carry anything that I wouldn’t die to have myself.”
